Do I Need a Referral to Book an Ultrasound Scan?
Most ultrasound scans require a referral from a GP or hospital specialist. However, you can book a consultation with our GPs first, and they can arrange an appropriate scan if medically necessary.
How Do I Prepare for My Ultrasound Scan?
Preparation depends on the type of scan. Most scans require no preparation. Some abdominal or pelvic scans may require fasting or a full bladder. Detailed instructions will be provided when booking your appointment.

An ultrasound scan costs €169, and a second scan booked on the same day is half price at €84.50. The price includes the scan by a CORU-registered sonographer, review by a certified consultant radiologist, and your report sent to your GP or referring consultant within 72 hours. Payment is required at the time of appointment.

How Quickly can I get an Ultrasound Appointment?
Appointments are usually available within one week at our clinic in Ballincollig, Cork, without the long waiting lists associated with public referrals.
Will my health insurance cover the scan?
Many Irish health insurance policies cover diagnostic ultrasound when referred by a GP. We provide a detailed receipt you can submit to your insurer. We recommend checking your policy before booking.
